Golf
Golf is one of the most expensive sports in the world. Initially it was started in Nepal by the royal families. The concept of golfing in Nepal was brought by the Rana ministers after their visit to Scotland. The first real golf competition ‘Lava Cup’ was started in 1920. The renowned golf courses in Nepal are: Gokarana Forest Golf Resort and Royal Nepal Golf Course, Yeti Golf course in Kathmandu, Himalayan Golf Club and Fulbari Resort Golf Course in Pokhara and Nirvana Country Club in Dharan. Golf in Nepal is a different experience altogether. The best time to play gulf is from October to March.

The Gokarana Golf Resort lies only 7 km east of Kathmandu. It is a perfect place to spend the holidays. The resort is lush green with a canopy of Himalayan peaks and wild deer for companions. It is one of the finest golf centres in South Asia with 72-course golf area with 18 holes. It is set in an old forest area of the Kathmandu Valley. Near the resort is Harmony Spa for soothing golf senses.

Another golf course the Royal Nepal Golf Course is located at the Til Ganga in Kathmandu. It is one of the oldest golf centres in Nepal as well as in Asia. The course was conferred by the title of 'Royal' in 1911. Similarly, the Himalayan Golf Club in Pokhara is situated about 6 km away from the city. It is a recently completed pro-championship designed 9 holes golf course which is located in a beautiful amphitheater on the setting of a river canyon scene with a panoramic view of the Annapurna Himalayan range.
