The Immigration Office opens from 10.00 to 17.00 hours from February 13th to November 16th and from 10.00 to 16.00 hours from November 17th to February 12th, Sunday through Thursday. It is closed at 10.00 hours on Fridays. Visa extension and trekking permit applications are accepted from 10.00 to 13.00 only. At times you will have to leave your passport and pickup all items after 15.00. These applications are not accepted after 12 p.m. on Friday. The Immigration Office remains closed on Saturdays and on other government holidays. It is recommended to allocate one day to get the trekking permit. (Only for tourists)

Business Days & Hours: Normal office hours are from 10-5 from March to November, and from 10-4 during the winter months of January & February. Sundays through Fridays are office days and Saturdays are the off-days.

Bank Hours: Nepal’s government banks mostly carry out their customer services from 10-2. Private, foreign & joint venture banks have their own schedule.

Off Days: Most offices related to client service like Banks, hospitals, & schools are open for half-day only on Fridays.  The diplomatic missions, INGOs, & embassies are generally open from 10-4 from Mondays through Fridays. The embassies observe the public holidays of their home countries as well as those of their host country Nepal.

Punctuality: But punctuality regarding time is not observed in most government office in Nepal. If you’ve asked a Nepali friend for an appointment s/he might ask you funnily whether the Nepali Time or American one, American time denoting punctuality.
